Some pretty exciting news came out of a Nintendo Direct broadcast this morning, as the President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, announced the first 3DS Pokémon! Yes, the next entry in this beloved franchise has been revealed and looks to shake up the formula that some, including myself, have been burned out on recently. Pokémon X and Y, the first titles without color in their name, will finally bring Pokémon to the 3D world. Some of the more recent entries, including Pokémon Black and White and their sequels, have added some impressive environments and some fancy effects, but still felt stuck in the past. This looks to rectify that and bring Pokémon forward in a way that many have been dreaming of for a long time, including full 3D battles, great vistas and much more.
Also exciting to note is that these games will be releasing simultaneously worldwide in October. Usually, we in the U.S.A. have to wait a year or more for localization to get our paws on these games, but not this time. As the CEO of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, said, "The worldwide launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y this October allows players to begin their adventures at the same time. Now, Pokémon fans across the globe can discover the secrets of Pokémon games and can collect, battle, and trade with each other immediately"
